Update August 14, 2014
In recent months, Evangelina has been struggling with the re occurrence of her leg tumor. Evangelina has begun a fundraising project to help fund the surgery and care she requires for the liposarcoma tumor on her leg.
Please go to her campaign, see her story and give what you can, to help Evangelina be able to pay for the care she requires.
Thank YOU! http://www.gofundme.com/cuvndc
At first doctors thought the lump on Evangelina’s leg was just a lipoma, a fatty deposit. It had never posed a problem before and had been there for several years. It began to protrude from her leg and her daughter became concerned. After removal, tests showed the lump to be a liposarcoma, a rare cancer for someone as young as Evangelina.
She found the stress from dealing with doctors, tests and hospitals was wearing her down and was actually worse than dealing with the cancer itself. Conflicting opinions were testing her personal resolve. She stayed strong within herself and held her belief that her illness was a blessing in disguise. She became very in tune with her body through the healing process and used many natural therapies to heal, which included addressing long-held emotions and forgiving herself as well as others. Evangelina tried many different diets, and found the diet that made sense and worked best for her was, The Cantin Ketogenic Diet for Cancer, Type 1 Diabetes and Other Ailments.
In this interview Evangelina teaches how she used the messages from her body to guide her choices, both in refusing certain treatments and in accepting a more natural and holistic way to health. Her comments below reveal the connection between how we feel by what we accept and hold inside, and whether or not healing can take place.
The emotional component of healing is so strong that when combined with a powerful cancer killing diet and natural therapies, miracles can and do happen. Using the lump on her leg as a ‘measure’, Evangelina was able to control the healing in her body by recognizing and eliminating any negative stresses and forces that were garnering her healing energy: “I noticed that when I started with her diet, with forgiveness work, that’s when the lump began to reduce itself.”
This is truly an uplifting story and we hope it brings light to the importance of addressing any emotional ‘knots’ you may be holding, which can hinder your ability to safely and quickly heal yourself.
“Every time I entered a room, it was the lump, it was not me, it was a lump that they needed to take from my body.”
“I really had a gut feeling that something was not right with what the doctor was telling me.”
“No, I’m going to do at this point what I feel is right for me.”
“I have to follow my heart, I just have to follow my gut, my instincts, my body.”
“This for me is a wake-up call, I need to deal with a lot of emotional stuff, I decided to start working on forgiveness.”
“I noticed that when I started with her diet, with forgiveness work, that’s when the lump began to reduce itself.”
“I had to dig deep, deep, deep.”
“Everything that goes in my mouth goes in my body.”
“I understood I also needed to do a lot of forgiveness work with myself because I wasn’t doing that.”
“In my heart again and in my gut, I knew everything was okay.”
“I knew then that even if I had a little bit, I had to follow my gut, I had to follow my body, now more so than ever.”
“I always thought from day one that this was a blessing for me.”
“If you listen, really, truly, your body helps you heal.”
“I see it as doing emotional work on my own, doing forgiveness work, learning to love myself.”
“It’s not a bandaid, it’s a change of lifestyle.”
“I had this sort of knot in my stomach and I thought that’s not a normal reaction, that’s when you have conflict.”
The Cantin Ketogenic Diet: For Cancer, Type 1 Diabetes and Other Ailments
Evangelina uses The Cantin Ketogenic Diet for Cancer, Type 1 Diabetes and Other Ailments. She has modified the diet further to make it Vegan. For more information about The Cantin Ketogenic Diet For Cancer, Type 1 Diabetes and Other Ailments, click on the book.
For about eight years I carried a small lump on my right thigh, had it checked and was told by two doctors it was “fat, and not a big deal.” On the tenth year I noticed the lump was protruding and was very noticeable, thus had it checked. I was told it was a lipoma and was sent to have a one day surgery. Five days later the surgeon said it was a Liposarcoma and recommend I see an oncologist and surgeon. I saw three orthopedic surgeons and four oncologists, all who insisted I have six weeks of radiation and then a huge surgery which would have left me limping for the rest of my life and very disabled, due to nerve damage. From the moment I saw the first oncologist, I felt the recommended treatment was not for me and despite the threats that I would only live two years and that the cancer would spread to the lungs within months, I knew there had to be another way via natural medicine. I learned all I could about nutrition, emotional and spiritual balance and immersed myself in meditation and other healing practices. I tried several diets and learned from each, but the one that worked for me was Elaine Cantin’s diet, which I modified to be vegan. I added many supplements, yoga, meditation, walking and did emotional and spiritual work (including forgiving). After one year and a half from the surgery, the MRI showed no metastatic disease and the few nodules on the leg are low in density and difficult to distinguish what they are. For me, the key to healing was lots of inner work along with a changed life style based on balanced nutrition.
Things I keep at home at all times: ginger, garlic, turmeric, purple onions, lemons, non aluminum baking soda, cinnamon, cumin, rosemary, Himalayan pink salt, pepper, olive oil, coconut oil.
Some of my supplements: Essiac Tea, Milk Thistle, Vit D3, Vit B Complex, Pectin, Astralagous, Quercetin, CoQ10, Wobenzymes, Enzymes, Vit E, Echinacea (on and off), Peau d’Arco, Liposomal Vit C (which I make), Vit A, Melatonin, Reiki and Shittaki mushrooms, Vit C, Omega 3, Chlorella, SAM-e (on and off), Beta – 1, 3/1, 6- D- Glucan, Oil of Oregano (on and off), Serrapeptase, Pure EPA/DHA.
Drinks: Green tea at least four cups a day, lemon water (many times with baking soda), aloe vera gel (fresh) with distilled water, ginger and lemon, and green juices.
Foods I eat daily: avocados, almonds, kale, salads, mushrooms, sunflower nuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, bean sprouts, many sprouted seeds, sauerkraut, lots of cabbage, cilantro, blueberries, celery, few carrots, celeriac roots, sour sop fruit.
Others: I take at least three Epsom salt baths with baking soda (3 pounds of each) and also do coffee enemas every other day.
AVOID: sugar even from fruits most of the time, white flour and anything processed, all dairy products, most grains (except few gluten free but I don’t eat those often); all products with chemicals – including make up and other cosmetics.
I do daily affirmations and meditate at least ten minutes in the morning and before going to bed. I practice gratitude and forgiveness. I walk and garden in the summer, but in the winter because it is so cold in MN, I do a little yoga and stretches. I read a lot on nutrition and alternative therapies.
I am in the midst of making lots of life changes and hoping to move to a sunny place next year. My 18 year old daughter is going to college and I plan to focus on myself full time and find my calling which I know is to serve and help others.
I am a single mother and I am from Honduras but have been in the USA more than half of my life. I have always worked in the criminal and civil justice system but I am taking steps to change this as this has been very stressful and has added to the toxicity in my life. I have learned Reiki and am learning more about healing practices as well as nutrition, herbs, shamanism, yoga and many more therapies. I hope to start a recipe book with tasty vegan recipes.
